Children’s Picture Book Editing

Manuscript Review, Starting at $95

Not sure what your manuscript needs or looking for professional feedback before investing in a full edit?

A review gives you an experienced editorial perspective on your picture book without committing to a complete editing package.

Includes:

• 2–3 pages of high-level editorial feedback

• Notes on the manuscript’s strengths and areas that may need attention

• Recommendations for your next steps

• Credit toward a full editing package if you decide to upgrade to another round (or 2 or 3!)

Best for: Authors who want a professional first look at their manuscript or aren't sure which editing service they need.

Editorial Assessment, Starting at $300

An Editorial Assessment is an in-depth evaluation of your manuscript that evaluates elements such as:

• Story structure and overall concept

• Plot and pacing

• Character development

• Age appropriateness

• Voice and reader engagement

• Word count and picture-book conventions

• Areas that may need further development

At the completion of my work, you’ll receive a detailed editorial letter outlining what’s working, what could be strengthened, and clear recommendations for revision with page numbers and specific guidance.

Best for: Authors who want a roadmap for revising the manuscript’s “big picture” themselves.

Developmental Editing, Starting at $350

Developmental editing focuses on the story itself. In this round we’ll dig into the big-picture elements that make a picture book work, including:

• Story structure

• Plot and narrative arc

• Character development and motivation

• Pacing and page-turn opportunities

• Age appropriateness

• Voice and point of view

• Show vs. tell

• Repetition and unnecessary content

• Opportunities for the illustrations to carry part of the storytelling

• Overall reader experience

This service includes detailed feedback and comments within your manuscript, along with guidance through revision and a second round after your rewrite.

Best for: Authors who have a promising manuscript but need hands-on help developing and strengthening the story.

Line Editing, Starting at $250

Once the story is working, line editing focuses on how the story is written.

I'll work directly within your manuscript to strengthen:

• Word choice

• Sentence structure

• Clarity

• Voice

• Rhythm and read-aloud quality

• Repetition

• Awkward or unnecessary phrasing

• Transitions

• Concision and impact

Edits and suggestions are provided directly in your manuscript so you can see exactly where and why changes are recommended.

Best for: Manuscripts with a solid story and structure that need sentence-level polishing.

Developmental + Line Editing Combo, Starting at $500

For manuscripts that need both big-picture development and detailed sentence-level editing, this package combines both services into one comprehensive edit.

We'll address the story first—structure, characters, pacing, age appropriateness, and overall effectiveness—and then refine the language, voice, rhythm, and word choice.

Includes:

• Detailed manuscript comments and tracked suggestions

• Revision guidance as needed

• Three-round editing process (1 developmental editing round ; 2 line editing rounds)

Best for: Authors who want comprehensive editorial support to take a manuscript from draft to a polished, submission- or publication-ready story.

Proofreading, Starting at $125

Proofreading is the final polish after the manuscript has already been edited and revised.

I'll check for:

• Grammar

• Spelling

• Punctuation

• Typos

• Consistency

• Minor formatting issues

Best for: Finished manuscripts that have already been developmentally and/or line edited and need one final professional review before publication.

Editorial Consultation, 30 minutes, $75

Sometimes you don't need another edit—you need to talk through the book with someone who understands publishing.

Use your consultation to discuss editorial questions, revision decisions, publishing options, next steps, or other questions about your manuscript and publishing journey.

Adult Nonfiction, Memoir, Self-Help & Spiritual Books

Longer manuscripts vary significantly in length, complexity, and editorial needs, so final pricing is based on the individual project.

Editorial Assessment

Starting at $350

A big-picture professional evaluation of your manuscript, including structure, organization, clarity, pacing, audience and areas for revision.

Developmental Editing, Starting at $0.05/word

In-depth editing focused on content, structure, organization, flow, argument or narrative development, reader experience and overall effectiveness.

Line Editing, Starting at $0.04/word

Detailed sentence- and paragraph-level editing focused on clarity, voice, flow, word choice, repetition and readability.

Developmental + Line Editing, Custom quote

For manuscripts needing both structural and sentence-level editing. Pricing depends on manuscript length, complexity and the amount of work required.

Proofreading, Starting at $0.02/word

A final review for grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency, typos and minor errors after editing and revisions are complete.
